Welcome to Up Mama ! Carrying your baby should be effortless. We want you to leave the carseat in the car, go for a walk just for an excuse to wear the baby, and break out into a silly, grateful smile when your busy toddler brings you the sling and asks "upmama?" UpMama wants to give parents the freedom to go about life's necessary tasks while confidently facilitating baby's basic biological and social need for attachment. It's a "happy baby, happy parent" concept! (Check out our Resources page to learn more) History: The UpMama has been loved by parents since it's very first incarnation in 2002! Owner and designer Corrine Mahar-Sylvestre says: "I used a huge variety of commercial and homemade sling style carriers with both my children, born in 1999 and 2002. I also tried to promote baby slings in my work with expectant and new parents, but they often found them intimidating looking, difficult to use, or uncomfortable. As a result, many gave up on the idea or wore their babies incorrectly and unsafely. I became determined to create a better baby sling, something attractive to mainstream parents and easy to use correctly, comfortably, and safely. My pouch-ringsling hybrid fit the bill. Parents of both newborns and toddlers loved it and it became the carrier I eventually built UpMama around. The UpMama sling is manufactured in Toronto, Canada and is a favorite of our retailers across Canada and the United States". What Makes the UpMama Sling so Special? UpMama was born out of the need for a naturally positioning baby carrier that was as simple as possible to use and versatile enough to adapt to multiple carrying positions, postpartum weight changes, growing babies and sharing between caregivers. The UpMama hybrid sling combines the compact, intuitively shaped body structure of a pouch sling with the "perfect fit" adjustability of a ring sling. We added a zippered pocket, allowing parents to ditch the diaper bag for even more freedom!
